If I go back to the area again, I'll find a place where I won't feel as if I'm spending the night in the woods. I stayed here once before and did not recall the conditions being quite so bad. The room did have a microwave and fridge, though I did not open or use either one. In the Winter months, this might be nice to wake up to, but not so much when it's in the 80's. There was also an unusual heat source coming through the floor in the bathroom and just outside of it. The bed was comfortable, though I slept in my own portable sheets instead of trusting those that were on the bed. This happened long after I was settled in the room and I did not feel like trying to switch to another room (besides, there could have been bugs in there as well). I looked on the ceiling and spotted a pair of very large bugs crawling along (see photo). It was just like sleeping in the Black Forest, including some woodland creatures. The room was very old, dirty and shabby and was decorated in knotty pine from corner to corner. There was a friendly gentleman who checked me in, but things started going down hill after I left the front desk. When I stay overnight, I'm usually looking for the cheapest place possible and this place met all of my expectations ($41 total). I stayed here on an overnight business trip. Avoid this place at all costs!!!!! The health department should close this place down until they properly clean and disinfect this place.… Also when we checked online, the price was $68.00 a night but when we checked in we were charged $70.00 a night. Better housekeeping shod have been undertaken especially now with the Covid_19. There was a dead bug on the bathroom floor. There was black grunge on the pedestal for the bathroom sink, and mold in the corner on the outside of the shower. The tv remote was filthy, these was hair on the shower wall that wasn't ours. They didn't even clean the room while we were out all day. He told me, with quite an attitude, " the night crew will be in soon and I will send them to clean the room." I told him we were going to dinner and that would be fine. We showed him the pictures we took of the filth. We spoke to the clerk on Saturday when we came back from antiquing. ![]() There was dirt and debris between the bed and night stand. Thw sherts on the bed we didnt use had stains and what appeared to be hair. The room had 2 double beds crowded into a tiny room. ![]() The room was reserved was not available so we were given a room with 2 "queen" beds. There were few rooms available and we dw died to stay at a different place. My wife and I dw idwd to spend a weekend in Adamstown, Pa. I would definitely stay here again, but I would insist upon a room where I can use the remote control properly. (#11 is such an example.) That is a deal-breaker! Tell them that you insist upon a room in which you can use the remote control from your bed or a chair. In some of the rooms, the cable box is chained to the wall face down, so that the only way to use your controller is to hold it directly under the box on the wall. Don't be turned off by the long-term residents, they are nice people who are just down on their luck or their health. Count your blessings that a motel that charges only $85/night in this area is even available anyway, how much time would you be spending in the room? True, there are absolutely no frills, not even ice or a coffee machine, but it's clean and quiet, the AC works, the shower water is hot, and they are very conveniently located. The Amish Country is a very touristy area and motels tend to be very expensive and B&Bs are exorbitant. Too many people complain about low low budget motels that don't provide the amenities of high price motel.
